Rocks Afire Feb 2 2026
Rock candles by Rocks Afire were inspired by the flickering light of a campfire on summer nights at Georgian Bay.
My name is Andy Zakrzewski. I retired in 2010 after 41 years in essential services. I have had a keen interest in geology and a passionate love of the outdoors since an early age. Creating the rock candles satisfies both of my favorite passions.
The rock candles are so popular that I had to move my centre of activity from my cottage on Georgian Bay to my home in the Caledon Hills Ontario. I create the rock candles in my workshop at home.
I use unique shaped natural rock and bond a reservoir to the base for the liquid paraffin fuel. The burn time for the candles is 4-6 hours and a refilling kit is included. 90% of my time is spent looking for the rock.
My wife helps me out with sales and accompanies me on the rock hunting expeditions. Both of us find the interaction with the customers to be enjoyable and infinitely satisfying.
I have entered approximately 30 Art and Craft shows each year since 2010 including the Ottawa Originals Show for the past two years. I also participated in the Halifax Saltscapes Show, National Home Show, Canada Blooms and the Toronto Cottage Life Show.
Rocks Afire won the Best New Product Design at the Home County Folk Festival in London Ontario and at Fair November (Guelph University) in 2025 we were awarded the most Unique Award.
