My journey with clay began in 1993, when I signed up for a pottery course at a local community centre. I fell in love with clay from the very first class.
I run my studio under the name Dotti Potts. Pieces are thoughtfully designed to enhance everyday rituals such as eating, drinking, entertaining, relaxing, and even meditating. I work primarily with durable porcelain clay, creating functional and decorative pieces that are both beautiful and made to be used. All work is crafted in small batches and are dishwasher and microwave safe.
Even after more than 30 years as a full-time ceramic artist, I still feel excited every time I walk into the studio. Clay continues to bring joy and meaning to my life. The marriage of clay, glaze, and heat is endlessly magical to me. Opening the kiln after a firing is always a moment of pure anticipation, seeing how the alchemy of the kiln has transformed the work never loses its wonder.
I feel truly grateful to be able to make my living doing what I love. Thanks to the continued support of my wonderful customers, I get to keep exploring the limitless possibilities of clay. After three decades, I still feel like I’m just getting stared.
