Matter Company

Matter Company began with the simple intention of working with the healing ways of plants.  Created by Therapeutic Herbalist, Denise Williams in 1996, the company has focused on creating a community around plant-based wellness for every phase of life. Our products offer a solution-based approach to skincare for life’s most daunting challenges – from babies bum rash, pregnant bellies, to irritated and sensitive skin, Matter Company has you covered.

Our therapeutic skincare formulas are slow distilled in small batches for 24 hours using whole plants, flowers, and berries to extract the herbs’ beneficial properties.  Our slogan 'the ingredients are the product' is synonymous with a commitment to purity and quality in the ingredients we use. 

At Matter, we remain rooted in an apprenticeship of therapeutic herbalism, working intimately with medicinal plants.  As a result of growing, wild crafting, harvesting and formulating herbal preparations, an important relationship was formed.  Herbs not only heal us on a physical level, they have a profound way of teaching us about ourselves.
